TacticLock privacy policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
TacticLock ("the app") is made by TapPlayer GmbH, Rootbachstrasse 3, 9215 Schönenberg an der Thur, Switzerland ("we"). Contact: support@tacticlock.com.
The short version
- The apps you use, the apps you lock, your screen time and your puzzle history stay on your phone. We never receive them.
- There is no sign-in to use the app. Only if you join the optional leaderboard, the app creates an anonymous account with the nickname you choose; you can leave and delete it at any time. If you choose to sign in with Google to keep your leaderboard progress, we store your Google email address with that account.
- If you buy TacticLock Pro, Google Play and our purchase provider RevenueCat process the purchase.
- We don't sell data, show ads or track you across apps.
What stays on your phone
To lock apps, TacticLock uses Android's usage access to notice which app is open, and the list of installed apps so you can choose what to lock. The same access is used to count how long your locked apps were open today when you set a daily time limit, to show you your own screen-time summary (time per day and late-night use) on the stats screen, and once during setup to show your average daily screen time and most-used apps over the last 7 days so you can set a goal. TacticLock reads this from Android when it needs it and works it out on your phone; it keeps no usage history of its own (only the goal you pick), and none of it is sent to us or anyone else.
Your lock groups, schedules, breaks, puzzle rating, streak, statistics and settings (such as the app language) are saved only in the app's private storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes them. Android's own device backup may include app data if you have backup turned on in your phone's settings — that is handled by Google under your Google account, not by us.
Leaderboard (optional)
Joining the leaderboard is your choice; until you tap Join, nothing described here happens.
When you join, we create an anonymous account (a random ID, no email, no name, no phone number) at Supabase (Supabase, Inc.), our database provider, in its EU region (Frankfurt). We store:
- the nickname you choose and, only if you turn it on, your country flag (chosen by you from your phone's region, never your location);
- your puzzle rating and streak;
- for each rated puzzle you finish: the puzzle's ID, whether you solved it, wrong moves, hints, the seconds it took, and the points it earned.
We never receive which apps you use or lock, your lock groups, schedules, screen time, or when you unlocked an app or used Emergency. Where you solved a puzzle (block screen, Train or daily puzzle) is not sent either.
Sign in with Google (optional): to keep your nickname and scores on a new phone, you can sign in with Google. Google then tells us your email address and a Google account ID, which Supabase stores with your leaderboard account. We use them only to sign you in again; other players never see them, and we don't receive your name, contacts or anything else from your Google account. Signing out on a phone keeps the account; Leave and delete my data deletes it together with the Google link. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Other players see your nickname, flag, streak, points and rating on the boards. You can report or hide other players' names. A name reported by three players is replaced with a neutral one (e.g. "Player3f9a1c").
Leave and delete: Settings → Leaderboard → Leave and delete my data deletes your account and all its scores from our server immediately; nothing is kept on your phone either. If you no longer have the app, see https://tacticlock.com/delete-account. Supabase's privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
Supabase receives your IP address with each request, like any server; we don't store it with your scores or use it to identify you.
Purchases
TacticLock Pro is sold through Google Play. Google processes payment; we never see your card or Google account details.
We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to confirm purchases and whether Pro is active. For this, RevenueCat receives a random app user ID created on your phone, your purchase history for TacticLock (product, date, price, store receipt) and basic technical data such as the app version and country. RevenueCat acts as our service provider. See RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Puzzle packs
The app downloads puzzle packs (for example "Match Week" and the weekly Master puzzles in Train) from our website. These requests contain no identifier or information about you. Like any website, our host can see your IP address when a file is downloaded; we don't use it to identify you. Host: GitHub Pages — https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement.
Analytics
The current version of TacticLock does not include analytics.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Usage access | Notice when an app you chose to lock opens, count today's minutes for daily limits, show your own screen-time summary, and your last-week screen time during setup. Never saved, never leaves the phone. |
| Display over other apps | Show the puzzle screen on top of a locked app. |
| Notifications | The "protection on" notification, your break timer, the "5 minutes left" warning for daily limits, a "TacticLock stopped" alert if your phone closed it while your locks should be on, and an optional weekly report on Sunday evening (worked out on your phone from your own counts; you can turn it off in Settings). |
| Internet | Purchases, puzzle-pack downloads and, if you join, the leaderboard. |
Children
TacticLock is not directed at children under 13 and is meant for managing your own phone, not someone else's. The leaderboard shows only nicknames, flags and scores; there is no chat or messaging.
Your rights
Most of your data never reaches us. What we can hold: your leaderboard account if you joined (delete it in the app or via https://tacticlock.com/delete-account) and what RevenueCat stores for purchases. You can ask us to delete your purchase records at RevenueCat (we'll need the purchase order ID from Google Play), or to tell you what is held. Write to support@tacticlock.com. If you are in the EU/EEA or Switzerland you may also complain to your data-protection authority (in Switzerland: the FDPIC).
Changes
We'll update this page when the app changes how it handles data, and change the date above.
